Nova Sagittarii 2012 No. 5 = PSN J18193700-1907400 [V5593 Sgr]
Discovered by: Tadashi Kojima (Tsumagoi, Agatsuma-gun, Gunma-ken, Japan) (reported by S. Nakano (Sumoto, Japan)
Discovery Magnitude: mag 12.6 on two frames using a Canon EOS 40D camera (+ 150-mm f/2.8 lens)
Discovery date: 2012 July 16.512 UT
Coordinates: R.A. 18 19 37.0 Decl. -19 07 40 (2000.0)
Spectra: Spectra by Kazuyoshi Imamura and Minako Ogi (Okayama University of Science) on 2012 July 18.529 UT, and by M. Fujii (Kurashiki, Okayama, Japan) on July 18.572 UT (reported by Kazuya Ayani, Bisei Astronomical Observatory) indicate Nova Sgr 2012 No. 5 to be a classical nova and a Fe II-type nova, respectively. Details regarding these spectra reports and image URLs are in CBET 3182. In CBET 3184, spectra by U. Munari and P. Ochner (Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova) and A. Maitan, S. Tomaselli, and S. Dallaporta ("Asiago Novae and Symbiotic Stars" collaboration) on 2012 July 18.88 confirm it as a Fe II-type nova close to maximum brightness and as being affected by large interstellar reddening. Spectra by Terry Bohlsen (Armidale, NSW, Australia) on July 19 confirm reddening.
