Galactic nova candidate, V~11.3

It is also worth noting that since the outburst amplitude is too small, the progenitor may actually be a background star and not the 16.9 Vmag. star 2MASS J08502962-4745283.
There is a 18th mag. star 2" away that might be a better candidate. Or maybe none of them!
Accurate astrometry is encouraged.
AAVSO Alert Notice 606 reports on the nova in Vela discovered on September 24, and includes a multiwavelength observing campaign underway. Please see the notice for details and observing instructions.
Many thanks, and Good observing!

Very rapid brightening...
Up one mage (11 to 10) in past 6 hours based on visual and in last 90 minutes this AM it was up another 0.13 in both V and I. (V now 9.95, I=7.86) Data submitted
