Re the BSM scopes: I am wondering what the upper (bright) limits are for Ic imaging. For example, could I reasonably image a variable if its Ic magnitude at the time was Ic mag 3-4?

Thanks, Ed

BSM bright limit

Hi Ed,

The BSM systems are spec'd to be able to image 2nd magnitude objects.  That said, 2nd magnitude requires about 50-100 images per filter to reduce scintillation.  At mag 3-4, you need about 10 images per filter to reduce scintillation, and then stack and measure.  We did eps Aur in 2009-2020 without problem, so you should be safe at Ic=3-4.
