Just getting started with SID reporting and need some guidance.
I've attached a picture of an event. (event 4180 from 3/1/2015 HWU)
My question is how to identify the start of the event: is it when the sharp rise begins? Or is it when there is a gradual climb from the baseline, leading up to the sharp rise?
Thanks

Hi George
Generally the start time (UT) is at the base of the sharp rise. If the SID is inverted it is right before the sharp drop.
You can check the GOES event logs for what the satellite model considers start, maximum and end times: ftp://ftp.swpc.noaa.gov/pub/warehouse/2015/2015_events/
After looking at many SID events and matching to the GOES times you'll get the idea ;-)
