V818 Sco (Sco X-1) campaign

Hello, Elizabeth! I have only Rc, 6" SCT, 0.63 reducer, ST-402ME. My observations will be important?

Hi Eugene,

Hi Eugene,

Thanks for wanting to participate! Your equipment looks good except for the filter. The PIs need V; I'm not sure if they can use Rc. Dr. Motta has subscribed to this forum thread - maybe she can say whether or not Rc would be useable by them. I'll ask her.

Best wishes,

Elizabeth

Calibration Star

What sort of coverage is desired for the 2MASS calibration star?  Single shot? Single each night?  Bracket the runs?

2MASS

Hi Jim,

the star is in the same field so I use the same comp stars as for V818 Sco. The 2MASS star is brighter than the target.

SO far I could not upload the 2MASS data as the star was not in VSX yet.

2MASS J16194990-1537248 now in VSX

2MASS J16194990-1537248 (NSV 20582) has been added to VSX, so observations can now be uploaded. Either name may be used. Thank you to everyone who is participating in this campaign!

Good observing,

Elizabeth

2MASS

Thank you, Josch.  I guess it was a silly question.  I had my head up and locked that the 2MASS photometry would take separate exposures.

Jim Sgt

thanks

Dear all,

thank you to all that are participating to this campaign! Observations in the Canary Islands (last night and the night before) dealt good data in the optical band. We are looking forward to compare them with your images.

The radio telescopes and the X-ray missions have been observing smoothly thus far.

The entire observing campaign will continue until Sunday 24th of February, so please keep observing if you can!

many thanks!

last night

Unfortunately V818 Sco was too close to the moon last night, so no further observations.
