Background/Interesting Fact
My work schedule no longer allows me the time to do CCD photometry locally, so I've reverted back to visual observing with my Canon 15x50IS binoculars and Discovery PDHQ 10" dob, nicknamed "LP" (in honor of Leslie Peltier), with piggybacked 80mm f6 refractor. I grew up only ten minutes from Delphos, Ohio USA where Leslie made most of his 130,000+ variable star observations and 12 comet discoveries! The refractors works well for brighter measurements on a B chart, and the dob does the rest using E/F charts. I am now also using the remote telescopes at iTelescope.net for CCD photometry of LPVs and other targets of opportunity (AAVSO alerts, especially monitoring declines post nova outburst). AAVSOnet is on my to-do list as well.
