AAVSO Alert Notice 539 announces a campaign to monitor 5 northern dwarf novae over the next few months. Please see the notice for details and instructions.

Many thanks, and good observing!

Update

Hi everyone

The VLA observed SU UMa on the 20th of February. According to your observations it was in quiescence at the time, which is great. We won't need any more monitoring of this target. Thank you for all your observations, and especially to J. Toone for confirming the start time of the outburst :)

YZ Cnc was observed by the VLA on the 5th of March. Your observations show that it was in outburst at the time, so we are going to observe it again. Please keep up your monitoring of this target over the next few weeks.

Best wishes,

Deanne

U Gem and SU UMa complete

Hi everyone

The VLA observed U Gem on the 1st of April. Your observations show that it was in quiescence at the time. Thank you for observing it for us.

Only YZ Cnc, RX And and Z Cam still need monitoring.

Best wishes,

Deanne

Anyone in the polar regions want to try & answer this question?

With

RA SUN  = 1 32 44

RA RX And = 1 04 36

and 32 degrees separating them in the sky, I can't help answer the question. Perhaps someone in the very far north can try when the sun is below the horizon and RX And isn't.

RX AND

Deanne,

After an almost perfect night under the stars, I gave a try to RX And under growing twilight and was able to get some picures of it. Rough estimate put it at around 11.9 mag.  Will do better processing later this morning.

rx and

Drove into the mountains this morning to escape light polution. I got RX And at 12.5 mag. with 124 , 130 comp stars. 09:23 UT Great skies. Larry S.

SU Uma a little active?

Hello

I did a short time series on SU Uma last night.  I got it at 14.9 in V for the first 5 exposures followed by 14.7 for the last 3.  Also in B at the same time, I got it at 15.2 for the first 5 exposures and then at 14.8 for the last 3.  I plan to observe it tonight.  It might be the start of something.

RX And observations and an update on YZ Cnc

Hi everyone

Thank you so much for your observations of RX And - especially in difficult twilight conditions. Based on the magnitudes you posted, I have decided to delay the VLA observations for now. I'll wait until it is further away from the Sun and easier to monitor. The VLA deadline for these observations is the 1st of August, so I will need to submit the observations as soon as it is visible again. Any early observations you can get of it will be extremely useful.

As a quick update, the VLA observed YZ Cnc again early this morning. Your light curve shows it to have been in outburst at the time, so I'll ask for another round of observations of it.

Clear skies,

SU Uma

I had 5 hours on SU Uma last night.  The orbital period is quite evident.  I Plan to observe it tonight--forecast is clear.

YZ Cnc

Hi everyone

I just submitted the VLA observations for YZ Cnc, as it looks like it's almost back in quiescence. They will probably observe it in the next two days, so please keep an eye on it.

To date we have quiescent radio observations for Z Cam, SU UMa and U Gem, so these systems are all done. I think we'll get YZ Cnc in quiescence this time, and thereafter we only need to catch RX And :)

Clear skies,

YZ Cnc observed

Hi everyone

The VLA observed YZ Cnc, and your observations show that it was in quiescence at the time. So we have everything we need for YZ Cnc. Thank you :)

Now we just need to catch RX And.

Clear skies,

RX And

Hi everyone

We are going to try and catch RX And in quiescence again in the next three weeks. The optical coverage of it is still sparse, so any observations you take of it will be extremely useful.

Thank you,

All observations completed

Hi everyone

Thank you so much for all your observations! We now have radio observations for RX And (and all our other targets) in quiescence.

Good luck with your other projects :)

Best wishes,

Deanne
